The Nakhl-e Nakhoda Port Development Project was initiated in 2011 by the Directorate General of Ports and Maritime Affairs of Hormozgan Province at the easternmost part of Bandar Abbas. Under this development plan, Nakhl-e Nakhoda Port is being constructed within the waters of the Persian Gulf with the objective of providing a shorter maritime route for local residents and tourists travelling to Hormuz Island. The principal objective of the project has been defined as reducing the marine travel distance between Bandar Abbas and Hormuz Island by 6.5 km. Other key objectives include the development of an appropriate marine complex for passenger, recreational, and tourism activities; reduction of marine traffic congestion; promotion of coastal and marine tourism; and facilitation of vessel movements between Hormuz Island and Bandar Abbas.
Since 2011, this Consulting Engineering Company has been cooperating with the Directorate General of Ports and Maritime Affairs of Hormozgan Province as the project consultant, providing engineering consultancy as well as technical and site supervision services to ensure the proper execution of the port construction works.
The port development extends for approximately 3.4 km and includes main and secondary breakwaters with a total approximate length of 4.5 km, together with a harbour basin covering approximately 7.5 hectares. The port is located in the Nakhl-e Nakhoda area, downstream of Bandar Abbas Airport and to the east of Bandar Abbas
